When Words Collide (Aug 8-10) – Event Details

According to the festival website: “When Words Collide is a festival for readers, writers, artists and publishers of commercial and literary fiction, including genre, YA, Children’s books, and Poetry.” It’s all about mixing and mingling the genres, a bringing together of writers and readers of all sorts. In other words, this is clearly my kind of space! (Crossing and mingling genres is kind of my thing. Or one of them, at least.)

And though I’ve never been (yet), I’ve heard nothing but good things from those who have. Sounds to me like a great weekend, and it’s nice to have this happening so (relatively) close to home. Which is to say, I’m looking forward to it, and here’s a list of the panels and events I’ll be participating in at the festival:

Friday (Aug 8)
2 PM • Accessing Meaning in Literary Arts [panel]
7 PM • What is Speculative Fiction? [panel]

Saturday (Aug 9)
10 AM • Blending SF and Fantasy [panel]
12 PM • Prim and Proper: Online Etiquette [panel]
1 PM • Teaching Canadian Fiction [panel]
8 PM • Mass Autograph Session

And just for the record, although I’m not officially scheduled for anything on Sunday, I do plan on staying for the entire festival. For more information on specific panels, including descriptions and full lists of participants for each one, you can download a PDF of program descriptions here.
